Square Enix Montréal is now Studio Onoma following Embracer acquisition

Square Enix Montréal – the developer behind any semblance of Contract killer Go and Lara Croft Go – has rebranded as Studio Onoma following its acquisition by Embracer Group in May.

Square Enix Montréal was one of three studios bought by Embracer Group as a feature of a $300m USD deal with Square Enix recently. Following the deal’s finishing in August, Embracer currently additionally possesses Precious stone Elements and Eidos-Montréal, close by significant IPs including Burial place Plunderer, Deus Ex, Hoodlum, and Tradition of Kain.

While Gem Elements and Eidos-Montréal will keep their current personalities following the Embracer acquisition, Square Enix Montréal has now shaken off the last leftovers of its previous proprietor with another name and new logo, the two of which have been definite in an extensive post on the developer’s website. The key takeway for the inquisitive, however, is that “Onoma is Greek for name and names offer endless possibilities”.

“At Onoma,” the developer adds, “we are makers, creators, and narrators, and the encounters and thoughts that we rejuvenate associate us to one another and to players.”

Studio Onoma’s website shows it right now has three portable undertakings underway (the studio has been essentially versatile centered since 2014’s Contract killer Go, albeit a few of its titles have advanced toward PC and control center), with Burial place Plunderer Reloaded, Symbol Ages, and another Space Intruders game all recorded as “coming soon”.

With respect to Embracer Group’s other Square Enix acquisitions, Precious stone Elements – which declared it had “assumed command” over a few game establishments remembering Burial chamber Thief and Tradition of Kain for September – is presently developing another Burial place Marauder game in Unbelievable Motor 5. It’s hazy what Eidos-Montréal, presently the proprietor of Deus Ex and Cheat, is chipping away at as of now, despite the fact that it said it had “a few” projects in development recently.
